Warehousing Storage Applications
Compact’s innovative mobile technology enables customers who manage large distribution and warehousing to increase capacity, maintain storage zoning, increased productivity with picking and replenishing operations, while creating a more productive warehouse with increased throughput, all this with full accessibility to every SKU. Compact accomplished this by designing long term warehouse storage designs maintaining 85% capacity. The process starts with a discovery process identifying the following:
- Current pallet & SKU capacity
- Projected growth of SKU’S & pallet positions over the next 3-5 years
- Any off-site storage currently
- SKU volume break downs
- Highest percentage of volume as a percentage of SKU’S (normally, 70% volume IS 30% of the SKU’S)
- Break down the remaining Volumes/SKU’s by 10% groupings
- How many shifts of operation
- How many pickers in the storage media per shift & what time of material handling equipment
- Through put analysis, how many trucks turned per loading dock per shift?
- LTL or full shipment
- Average distance & time the material handler is driving in the box to pick
- AutoCAD drawing of the building, column locations and current storage racks need to be supplied
Once this information is documented Compact will design a warehouse layout for the customer and an integration process.
Compact designs Storage Zone and within a zone are storage modules. A module is designed within a building column offering from 400 to 2400 pallet positions. Example of a module of mobile carriages and select rack located within the building columns demonstrates the design.
Offers, up to 75% increase over select rack!
With Compact’s zone and module design warehouse customers can simply add more modules creating more capacity. More importantly allowing fast moving SKU’s to be moved to staging and loading areas dramatically reducing pick & replenishing times increasing productivity. Reference the case study section of the website to see a before and after illustration of a DC that experienced a 78% increase in capacity with zoned area for fast moving SKU’S (select rack) mobile with open aisle design for picking & bulk storage with RA remote activation. DC illustration below:
Remote Activation
Compact offers remote RF technology to activate a Compact Module remotely assuring aisle open when material handler arrives.
Pick & Replenish
Compact has designed a unique solution for pick and Replenishing operations. Our modules incorporate both static select rack and mobile racking but we NEVER close an aisle. Our normal design offers a 6’6” open aisle for picking and during replenishing the mobile can be moved either to the right or left creating a 13’ aisle for replacement. This solution offers full accessibility to every SKU, narrow aisle for picking operation & maximum capacity with the creation of a 13’ aisle for a standard fork lift to replenish. - Increased capacity
- Increased throughput
- Increased pick productivity with reduced pick routes
- Zoned warehouse with SKU’s volumes placed near pick and staging areas
- Full accessibility to every SKU
- Interactive with Warehouse Management Systems
- Remote (RF) module activation
